This makes me so sad. by Beth S. at InsiderPages
I searched Uncle Bill's to find a phone number I could use to contact a manager of the store. And came upon all these reviews, which only confirmed my suspicions, and made my heart fall. The reason I was looking for a number was because I visited one of the locations earlier this evening (which is the first time I've ever been to one) and had one of the most heart wrenching experiences of my life. I was asked if I wanted to hold one of the Persian kittens and couldn't resist. However as soon as I held the sweet kitten I could smell something awful, so I sniffed the top of her head, which did smell, but worse, I knew that couldn't be it so I looked under her tummy/tail and there was a large clump of hardened matted feces stuck to her rear. I don't even know if the poor animal could go to the bathroom. She was a fluffy furry Persian and all of that fur was just stuck to that horrible ball of poop!! I set her back in the cage (when home, I immediately washed my coat) and told the kid who opened it for me that she smelled bad, and that what was going on was not good at all. He went to get someone else - a woman who didn't seem to have a compassionate bone in her body, who proceeded to jerk the kitten back out of the cage and march to the back. I was stunned. I left the shop feeling as if I'd just witnessed a tragedy. I have a feeling that the poor kitten was not handled very gently as the clump was pulled from it's fur and skin. I will never, ever, frequent an Uncle Bill's location, they will never receive my business, and further, I wish that I could do something to shut this place down. Please, let's do what we can to help helpless animals. Do not support this place any longer. Do not give them your business.

Warning by stefanie e. at InsiderPages
I don't really know where to start. For a long time, I frequented the store to buy pet supplies and then one day I went in and purchased a Shih Tzu for $750. I felt so sorry for her! It took over a week to get the urine smell out of her fur, to begin with. After taking her to the vet, I found out that she had double ear infections, which Uncle Bill's did pay for. My parents were not so lucky when they recently purchased a puppy for $600. She was 2-3 months old and as soon as they got her home they noticed she had fleas. A few days later, she started coughing to the point where she couldn't breathe and they took her to an emergency vet at 3am to find she has a severe case of Kennel Cough. Uncle Bill's refused to pay this bill bc it wasn't one of their appointed vets, however none of the ones they referred were open for emergency careand she was gasping for air. At her first vet appointment, we found out she had double ear infections. Four days later, we find out she had roundworms and take her back to the vet. In addition, she had an additional parasite, which I don't recall the exact name of, but it's contracted through contaminated water. They claim that their dogs are sold healthy, but after two bad experiences of my own, and others I've heard from other customers, I'd have to say they are outright lying. I strongly advise against purchasing animals from this store. All of the health problems that our dogs contracted were contagious, and the vet said that most likely all of their dogs have similar viruses/parasites. Go to the pound and pick out a dogthey'lll be in much better condition than any dog you'll buy from Uncle Bill's. Last, but not least, there have recently been frequent protesters outside saying that they receive their dogs from puppy mills. I don't regret buying my dog, bc I love her, but they have definitely lost a customer here.

great store on highway 40 by Pamela R. at InsiderPages
I bought my minpin from Uncle Bill's and she has been a wonderful addition to our homeshe was active healthy and playful when we first went to the storeshe still is and I thank Uncle Bills for herthe store is clean and so are the puppies..
Every time I have been there they have been feeding puppies, cleaning cages or cleaning puppiesThey seem to be well cared for before buying.I purchased her on highway 40i have never been to the Greenwood store so I cannot comment on it. I do think the pricing is quite high..but it probably takes a lot to feed and care for a pupGet one somewhere cheaper and chances are they are not well taken care of
Show me some proof before I'm a believer about the puppy mills

Thank-you Uncle Bills for my little girl

At least one puppy is now safe. by Abby O. at InsiderPages
I recently bought a $600 puppy from the store. She is a sweatheart but growls when she is eating. One reason why she growled the first night however was because she was starving. During the car ride home, she vomited and it was clear. If she had been fed, wouldn't common sense tell you her vomit would have been colored from the dog food?
Anyways, I was instructed to buy a certain puppy food and vitamin paste stuff that would prevent hypoglycemia and also keep her under the warranty if she came down with a cold or something. After I got her home (3 hours later) I scheduled a vet appointment for her to get checked out. Come to find out because of the appointment, the food that I was told to feed her is a really bad type and can cause hypoglycemia and the vitamin paste I bought actually counteracts the effects of the dog food! On top of that, the vet said she has an over bite. I was NEVER informed of any of these details. I would not recommend Uncle Bill's to anyone. They are way over priced and the puppies are not treated very well. At least by buying my puppy, she is going to be treated the right way and not abused.

Do Not Buy From Uncle Bill's Pet Center
My daughter recently purchased 2 hamsters from this store in Fishers Indiana and was given a guarantee as to their health. Within 3 days one of them died and the other died 5 days after that from WET TAIL disease. These animals were put in a brand new cage also purchased from this store and had fresh bedding that was purchased at the store too. When we contacted the store they refused to refund our money or replace the animals. They were obviously contaminated when we purchased them and it is sad that the state of Indiana would let a business like this one continue. I will probably be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this company. The refund would have only been $13 but this company would rather have the money than a good reputation. DO NOT BUY from Uncle Bill's Pet Center! Go to a reputable Pet Store.

Sick Dog for $599 by Heather H. at InsiderPages
We bought an Italian grey hound for $699 on 12/8/07 at Uncle Bill's Pet Center, 38th street location. He did one hacking cough while we played with him before purchasing. The store employee just kept telling the dog to cough it up as if he had something caught in his throat. It stopped and we thought nothing of it. An hour after buying the dog, we were at the vet. He had a horrible hacking cough that came on strong. It was kennel cough. We were sold a sick dog for $699.! The clinic told us it was very common at Uncle Bill's. It's now 12/27/07 and he's as sick as ever. He's been to the vet 3 times and he's been on 2 different antibiotics. We got Uncle Bill's to refund $100 of the purchase price and they are paying the related vet bills. I'm still awaiting reimbursment for one of the bills though.
We have a very contageous puppy and were not able to take him to our Christmas visit out of town at my parent's house (they have 2 dogs). This was terribly disappointing. Uncle Bill's agreed to keep him in their isolation area for the 4 days we would be out of town. so we would not put my parent's dogs at risk. Upon our return we found they neglected to give him 1 day's worth of his antibiotic and cough medicine. We also found none of this blankets or toys were given to him in his cage!!! They were all still perfectly folded as I left them in the bag. The store employee had to search for our bag of stuff at our request when we picked the dog up. How sad.

Please also watch New Channel 13 Nov 27 news story about Uncle Bill's and the Indiana puppy mill before buying. All the parents of these puppies live their lives confined to a cage at Amish farms. All they do is breed, no freedom, no love. It's horrible. I feel terrible we supported such an operation. Don't make the same mistake I did. DO NOT BUY A DOG FROM UNCLE BILL'S OR ANY OTHER PET
